Weekend in Nashville

Father's Day Weekend, we went to Nashville with Tina, Ted, Ethan and Simon.

On Friday, just after we got into our hotel room (room 2125), Glenn took his first steps!!! He watched Simon run around like a wild man and just decided to give it a try. Yay!! (Coincidentally, I took my first steps while on 'vacation', too. We were in Virginia celebrating my first birthday with Mom's extended family.)

Saturday, Glenn slept in.

After breakfast, we all piled into the Pilot and set out for The Parthenon. I turned on the vents in the back, so that Ted and Ethan could get some air, and this is what happened.
Crazy hair!
The Parthenon is a full-scale model (?) of the original Parthenon in Greece. We couldn't take any pictures until we got to Athena's floor, for some unknown reason. Anyhow, she's almost 42 feet tall. The last time I saw her, I was in Nashville with my Mom and she (Athena) was getting a major make-over for the Parthenon's Nashville 100 year anniversary.

A nice family shot.

Athena's holding Nike, Goddess of Victory (not shoes, as some kid said while we were there.)Athena's shield

A Gryphon. I just thought he was neat.

Scaled down model of the carvings on the front and back of the Parthenon.

Another nice family shot. Notice Simon trying to escape...
The guys at the front

Apparently, we wore Scott out.

And Ethan. Ted's the only real trooper.

We ate lunch at The Rainforest Cafe at the Opry Mills Mall. Simon wasn't thrilled about the "thunder storms" inside, but Glenn liked them.

There wasn't a race on the tv, but the boys sacked out in the hotel anyhow. I went swimming (there'll probably never be a picture of that!)

Nashville Zoo

On Father's Day, before we headed for home, we all went to the Zoo. Nashville has a great zoo!

Here's Ethan being "eaten" by the lion guard

Notice the waterfalls behind the Macaws. And all that nature? Most of the zoo is like that! (Our zoo here certainly isn't.)

A play area for the big kids

Ethan is definitely a big kid...

Glenn and Simon took advantage of the squishy-floor baby play area. Simon was moving too fast for a picture.

The animals

fighting Meerkats
I don't know who she was submitting to, but see that little gal on the left? She was like that the whole time we were watching them... (I did see her move, tho, so we know she was alive.)

This one was barking, while laying down. I think we were witness to some sort of mating session or something.
Ms. Submissive

Cougar Cubs. I think they were 3 months old.
The other cub is in the back here. If you look hard, you can see his eyes.

And that must have been the last of the animals...

We had a great weekend!
