"Roughing" It

As lots of you know, we (and 300,000 other LG&E customers) lost our electricity due to Ike & his crazy wind storm on Sunday, Sept. 14. We stayed home Sunday night - outside until it got dark, then hanging out by candle light until time for bed, when we all slept in the living room with doors & windows open (and that was one looong night.) Monday morning, Glenn and I went to hang out with my cousin, Lisa, and her family (they were lucky and never lost power).

Monday evening, we still had no power. Scott had the fantastic idea to see if we could go stay at his Grandparents' "winter house", which is on part of his aunt's property (the grandparents live on a lake about 2 hours from here & move closer to the family during the winter, for safety and company), and we were invited to stay as long as we wanted/needed to. So, Monday evening, after dinner, we packed up a few days worth of stuff and headed out.

Tuesday, Lisa (Scott's aunt, not my cousin) brought out the inflatable that she'd purchased for her granddaughter a few years ago. Glenn couldn't wait to get in...

Swinging is lots of fun.
Look at that face!! JOY

Glenn also mastered climbing up the ladder to the slide. The first time he went up without help, I admit I was a bit anxious...

A bunny! Glenn had multiple conversations with this bunny. I'm not sure if the bunny talked back or not, but Glenn had lots to tell him.
(Here Glenn's asking to hold the bunny. We didn't get that brave.)
Kicking back on the hammock.
Daddy kicking back.
Glenn also mastered climbing UP the slide. That's my boy!

Apparently, cats aren't the only creatures who like to lay on the top of sofas.
A nightly thing - running with Daddy. You can't tell from the pictures, but Scott's running backwards while Glenn chases him. I'm not sure who had more fun.

On Friday we got a visit from Emily, Olivia and baby Thomas (6 weeks old).

I don't remember what was going on for sure, but it looks like Glenn's about to be thumped with a ball...
Swinging with Olivia.
Glenn was all about holding the baby. I hope he's this happy to be around his brother or sister, coming soon!

Thankfully, our power came back on late Friday afternoon and we're back home now.
