First Toofer!

That's "tooth" for those who don't speak baby-talk.

Yep, it's poking through!! I don't have a picture to share, but I can feel it.

Santa!!

Glenn's first visit to Santa and he did GREAT. Went right to him and didn't take long to start grinning. He is such a doll. Truly.

We have 7 month pictures, but they're on the camera of Scott's parents, so there's no telling when we'll get them on our 'puter!! :)

Milestone!!

Glenn sits up by himself!!

He's actually been doing it for a couple of weeks, but now he can do it for
minutes at a time. So cute, but he's growing far too fast! He kind of leans forward when he's sitting in the corner of the sofa, like he's wanting to go somewhere, so I suspect that crawling is just around the corner. I'm not sure the animals are ready for that.

(be sure to note the nice drool pool)

Of course, there's a need to make the "landing pad" cushy since he still topples over. But don't worry - he laughs every time he goes down.

And here's a picture of something sure to induce the giggles, as Scott discovered today:

6 Months

SIX months! SIX!!! Half a year! How did this happen???

Anyhow, not that anybody reads this who didn't get the link to the pictures already, here are not-so-clear copies of the pictures we had taken at Sears today.

And, my favorite -

Wow, how time flies!

Our boy is 5 months old today!! Where does the time go??

First, though, pics from our trip to Hubers Orchard in Indiana. We went on Saturday and spent several hours there, but only took 2 pictures. Go figure. We got tons of good apples right off the trees, tho!

Now for his 5 month pictures:

Isn't he gorgeous???

Labor Day

We went to Bernheim Forest on Labor Day. Scott wanted to go to another park that's closer, but I pointed out that we'd gone to Bernheim on Labor Day the first year that we dated (and that was where I realized that he's "the one"), so he agreed to go back there again this year.

Bernheim is about 40 miles from where we live, and we got there at around 9:00 am. The weather was fantastic. Not at all hot and cloudy enough to walk without sunglasses. We went to the Visitor's Center to get a map of the trails, and decided where to go first.

Bernheim Forest is a beautiful Arboretum in Bullit County, KY, with over 50 miles of hiking trails that "loop through knobs and valleys, along ridges and hollows. " (http://www.bernheim.org) The trails are divided into difficulty levels: easy, moderate and difficult. We chose a "moderate" trail called Iron Ore Hill Loop and, after we parked, I helped Scott strap on the Snugli and loaded Glenn onto his back.

Once we got on the trail, I let Caesar off his leash and he trotted on ahead of us. Caesar is a GREAT trail doggie, and I couldn't go to Bernheim without him. He stays on the trail, often going ahead, but always coming back to check on me. As usual, when he was in "check on everybody" mode, he'd pass Scott up to check on me. Once he saw me, he'd turn around & go ahead again. You have to look through the trees, to the left of Scott, to see him, but he's leading the way here:

Soon, I noticed a change in Glenn's posture. I thought, "Either he's looking up at the trees, or he's asleep!", so I asked Scott to stop for a minute. Sure enough, he had zonked out. Completely. There was something so unfair about him snoozing away while I was huffing and puffing my way up the hills...

He slept through the rest of the trail. This child can sleep anywhere.

After we managed to finish the trail (Scott was fine, but I kept saying, "Oh, for the love of Heaven!" every time I saw another hill ahead of us), we walked out onto the Canopy Tree Walk. This walkway takes you out over the edge of a cliff of sorts, and at the end (where we're standing in the picture) we were about 75 feet from the trail below. I'm betting the view is even better in the fall.

I look like doody in this picture, but I'm putting it up anyhow. (I must be a little loony.) The guy who took our picture tried to get Caesar in it, but since Caesar had lost all of his steam and was laying down at every opportunity, he's not in the picture. Oh well.

After we left Bernheim, we decided to head to Bardstown to visit my Grandparents. On the way, Glenn passed the time by chewing on my fingers and his duck.

Here's my Gammie holding him (and Caesar desperately trying to climb up onto the deck):

My step-sister, Tina, hadn't yet seen Glenn, so of course she just went silly over him. Here she is with her daughter, Danielle, and Glenn. (Yes, both Scott and I have sisters named Tina... crazy, eh?)

Of course, Nana was there to share in the spoiling of Glenn (can you really spoil a child this young? I think not.), but I'm not allowed to post her picture on here. ;) She loves her baby, tho. Like crazy. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

After some chatting and pizza, we packed everybody back in the car and headed home. It was a great day!

Labor Day Weekend - Saturday

We had a busy weekend! Well, sort of.

Friday we drove to Scott's hometown of Winchester, KY & stayed with his parents (Granna & Pada) so that Scott could run a race at the Pioneer Festival on Saturday morning. At the start line, we met up with Scott's sister, Tina, and the men in her life - hubby, Ted, and sons Ethan (13) and Simon (almost 3 months).

It was a LOT cooler on Saturday morning than it had been in months, so I was totally unprepared with warm clothes... fortunately I had a couple of warm blankets to wrap him up in while we waited for the runners to cross the finish line.

Then Scott's Aunt showed up with a jacket for Simon, which I promptly hijacked, (Simon didn't need it because Tina was prepared) and Glenn was much more comfortable. Don't worry, tho. Simon still got a jacket - we traded when we got back to the house, where there was another jacket waiting for Glenn.

Ethan walked a few laps on the sidewalk with Simon while waiting for his Mom to finish the race, too.

Scott finished the race in about 22 minutes, his best time for a 5K, and got 2nd place in his age group!

Then it was back to Granna & Pada's house for some family fun time.

Simon is not a fan of the Bumbo...

... he prefers to stand, with the assistance of Momma.

Pada gets down & goofy with Glenn

And, finally, Glenn spent some much needed chill out time with Pada.

Then we headed home, for a day of rest before our adventures on Monday...

Glenn is 4 months old today!

I can't believe how fast the time has gone... Here are some pictures of my gorgeous boy.

First Post - Just us

I'm starting a family blog - just a place to post some pictures of the adventures I know we'll have, and the little milestones we hit along the way.

But first, here we are:
