On Saturday, May 3, we drove to Cincinnati to meet up with the Powells and for the men to run the Flying Pig Marathon on Sunday.
We'd reserved a 2 bedroom suite at a downtown hotel and when checking in, Scott was told that we were being upgraded to a "penthouse" 2 floor, 2 bedroom suite. We have no idea why but we weren't complaining (except for the stairs that Glenn kept insisting on trying to climb alone)... This is the view from the living area balcony. Looking down from the balcony. Living room Kitchen
King bedroom View from the other bedroom balcony - this balcony ran the length of the building. No privacy there. 2nd bedroom
Sunday!
Em and I couldn't get close to the finish line - they really could have helped people out by putting up signs telling how to get from one place to another... Not at all stroller-friendly. Anyhow, by the time we got to a place where we could see the finish line, Thomas had finished. Here's Scott just past the finish line. I'm so proud!! Olivia & Glenn goofing off. Glenn and his favorite Daddy watching a barge moving along the river. Glenn loves his Daddy.
Glenn was fascinated by the heater towers under the big paddle wheel at the park. There was a German Shepherd/Lab mix puppy close by. Glenn wouldn't pet her, but he liked looking her way. View from under the paddle wheel.
More Glenn loving his Daddy, and checking out the view. On Monday, before we headed home, we stopped at Krohn's Conservatory in Eden Park to check out the butterfly festival. Butterflies were everywhere!!!
Glenn pointing something out. The plants were absolutely gorgeous, even without butterflies.
Scott is apparently a butterfly magnet. Close up of the butterfly that landed on Scott. (Note to self - figure out how to take close up pictures that aren't so fuzzy...)
The lady in the dark green shirt was releasing butterflies from a bucket - I think they were attempted-escapees that were caught before people could walk out with extra passengers. This butterfly was on this boys head for at least 10 minutes. He must REALLY be sweet. No idea who he is. Glenn was thrilled to run up & down the ramps that were here & there.
View of the butterfly room from the back. Next room was Desert Something or other. Tons of different types of cactus. I was amazed by the "Elephant's Foot" cactus. (Can you tell that there's a baby in that belly?!?!) Next room over - Orchids!!!
